Book Club pt. 1

I have to preface this by saying that I have not read a book for fun since probably high school… BUT I have been spending so much of my free time reading lately. I ABSOLUTELY loved all of these books and literally could not put them down! Just a warning – I like thrillers & are not for the faint of heart! But if you’re a fan of thrillers, you’ll love these! I have been loving reading so much that I decided to start a book club here on the blog!

All the Missing Girls // The Obsession // In a Dark, Dark Wood

It wasn’t until I graduated college that I had extra time on my heads to start this new relaxing hobby of reading! I decided to give thriller’s a try because they hook you in and keep you interested until the last page! Guy’s I’m an enneagram 1 and I thrive on daily routines. WELL since I started adding reading into my daily routine, I feel so so so much more relaxed, I’m sleeping better (hello, not falling asleep to the tv on), and I look forward to reading my book each and every day! It’s such a simple thing to add into your routine and I’ve been loooooving it! Let’s kick off this book club!

All the Missing Girls // This was the first book I ordered off of Amazon and I could not put it down! This book is a nail biting story about the disappearance of two young women, told in reverse. I think Miranda is an amazing author who develops relatable characters, to the point you feel like you know them in real life. I really connected with the protagonist Nic, because part of the novel is about her difficulties returning home after being away for 10 years. (It made me reminisce about coming home after college!) What is really unique about this book is that it is told day- by- day over the course of two weeks but in reverse. Revealing new shocking details every day. I am still thinking about this book DAYS later, which is a sign of a really good book.

The Obsession // I’m not going to lie, I was a little hesitant to read this book. It got amazing reviews on Amazon but the actually size the book is really small but thick. I just wasn’t use to a book the size of my hand! Anyways, The Obsession lived up to its name! It starts off with a young Naomi following her dad into the woods in the middle of the night. Leading her to find the unexpected, a girl trapped in a root cellar by her fathers doing. In freeing the girl trapped in the roots cellar, she reveals her fathers crimes and made him infamous. I felt for Naomi during the whole book because she tries to escape her past by moving from place to place, thousands of miles away from home. Once she finally settles in Sunrise Cove, she realizes the sins of the father are only a nightmare away. I was actually OBSESSED with this book ha!

In a Dark, Dark Wood // Oh my goodness, I could not put this down! I finish this book in 3 days. This book is a little slow to get into and didn’t really pick up until page 100. I would not say this book is “scary” but it is captivating, and I kept reading because I was dying to know the ending. The book begins with the main character, Nora, being invited to a bachelorette party for a friend she has not seen in 10 years. The party takes place in the woods, Ruth Ware does an amazing job painting the picture of a creepy all- glass house in the middle of a woods. So much so I was afraid to read this book at night, scared I would have a nightmare! Even though it takes awhile to get into, I still thoroughly enjoyed this book!

Whew! That was a lot but if you’ve read ANY of these books I would love your opinions! I am also searching for my next thriller so if you have ANY suggestions, leave them in the comments below! I’ll share another BOOK CLUB post in a few weeks with reviews of some new books & what’s up next!
